Week Three

I don't know that I can continue to call these posts by the week because I'm obviously behind.  Oh well.

I realized as I went to write this blog post that I'm not taking enough pictures.  I will do better.  The weeks are starting to run together.  I guess that means we've been busy.  At least I have.  My weeks revolve around what to cook for institute, what to take to the potluck, or what to feed the missionaries.  Needless to say I spend a lot of time at the grocery store and in the kitchen.

We have been doing a lot of visiting also and on Monday we hosted an empty nester FHE for the ward.  We had about 9 people there.   All of this may change soon because the BIG news is that on September 29th they are forming a YSA Branch that will encompass the whole stake--which is most of Vermont.  The word we get from the Zone Leaders is that we will be working exclusively in the YSA Branch.  They have assigned a set of young missionaries (the ZL's) to be exclusive ysa missionaries so we will be working directly with them and covering most of the state.  The YSA's will meet in Montpelier for church so we will be driving down there every week  Fortunately they will continue to do institute in the stake center here in Essex.  We are not sure how involved we will be anymore with the Burlington ward. We're a bit sad about that because we really like the ward and are just getting to know people.  The bishop is awesome and he was hoping to utilize us in the ward more.  We have never met the mission president yet but there is a Zone conference on the 24th so I suppose we will meet him then.  It's too bad that we didn't know before we came out here that our mission would be YSA and institute because they do special training at the MTC for them and we really feel like we are in the dark.  But we will go forward with faith and expect the Lord to guide us in helping them to establish this branch.

Last Friday we went to St. Albans and helped the elders move into a new apartment.  Boy did they need that!  I think the elders there have stayed in this apartment since the mission was formed!!  Anyway, moving them from a 2nd floor apartment took its toll on both of us a bit.  But it was fun working with the office couple (the Matkins) and getting to know them a bit.  Also they bought us dinner afterward.  St. Albans is an adorable quaint town--it looked like old town USA and it was thriving.  There are some REALLY cute small towns in Vermont.  It's a postcard everywhere we go!

Here is one of the only two photos we took this week.  The street sign says Algonquin Drive--which is the name of the street that Laura lives on so we took a picture.

And the other is of our neighbors who have kept us entertained and interested.  We figure they are resting on their migration south and will be leaving soon.  Some of these geese are HUGE.  I wonder why I never had one that sizze to cook for Christmas Dinner!
Sorry this is so boring.  Hopefully next week we will have some new adventure to report!
