WHOOSH!

And the week flew by so fast that I can't believe it.  This week was full of WONDERFUL experiences for us.  Ken already wrote about our Monday excursion to Ben and Jerry's factory.  But I thought I would post a few pictures for your entertainment and for my memory later on down the road!
There is a large assortment of flavors in the Ben and Jerry's graveyard and each of them  has a headstone with a clever rhyme.  This is just a sampling of a few.

Monday night after our little excursion, we stopped in Underhill to buy a pie at Poorman's Pie.  It's a little self-serve pie stop where you take a pie and leave your money in the drop box.  Total honor system.  It's a thing here in the Northeast I think.

We invited the  "E" Elders (Ellsworth and Edstrom)over to help us celebrate and to share the pie with them.  Since they are now ONLY YSA missionaries they don't ever have meal appointments.  I need to feed them whenever I can. They insisted on having a candle to blow out.

On Tuesday we went to the Joseph Smith Birthplace memorial for a three-zone conference with a member of the the Seventy, Elder Haynie.  We spent the day being taught and part of the day asking questions.    I loved one thing that Elder Haynie taught:  " Scattered Israel likes to hang around gathered Israel.  We should all be looking at our everyday associations and ask ourselves if we have offered them the blessings of the restored gospel." It was a great experience and fun to get to see so many missionaries together in one place. There were even a few senior missionaries there.  It was a long day as we left at 8:15 and didn't get home until about 7:00.

On Wednesday I did some organizing so we could go out and make some visits this afternoon.  We had to get the car serviced (over 5000 miles in 3 months!) so we planned our visits in South Burlington.  It was mostly a bust—cause no one was home.  Well, that’s not true.  At one home someone was home but they pretended not to be.  And at another house we caught one of the Young Single Adults’s we have been trying to track down and he wasn’t too excited about it at all.  He was pretty resistant to even talk with us.  Oh well.  At least we tried.

Thursday we went to Manchester, NH.  The mission president and his wife hosted a dinner for all of the senior missionaries in the mission.  Elder and Sister Haynie were there and it was a really fun and intimate dinner with them.  They were so cordial and shared with us their experiences in being called as a general authority.  I'm always touched by the sacrifices that people make to give their time completely to the service of God.  We love the Haynies.

This is Elder and Sister Pack.  They served in
Hong Kong with Rob and Anne Clark!

Friday morning we headed over to District council just to find out that there wasn't one because of Zone conference on Tuesday.  This is one of those communication things that senior couples learn only by experience I guess.  Anyway, it was the first sunny day in quite awhile so I sent Ken to the golf course so I could rest my knees for a while.  He meets the most interesting people golfing but that's a story he will have to tell next time he contributes to the blog.

Saturday we drove to Morrisville to help the Sisters man a Genealogy/Family history booth they had set up for the annual Rocktober Fest.  I was so worried about the weather because it was so rainy all morning.  We picked up the Burlington Sisters and it rained all the way there.  But when we got out of the car the rain stopped and we actually had a great time with no rain for the next few hours.  We had a lot of fun.  You can tell by some of the pictures below! It was fun seeing how excited people are to discover their ancestors.  I Love Family History!

 We love the Sister Missionaries!

This is Bambi and Pepper.  Pepper is a Papillion like Chaz!
Bambi is being taught the restored gospel by Sisters Monson and Harrison.  She is a sweet and sincere lady and we hit it off great.
And Pepper liked me but was afraid of Ken.  That definitely not the norm!

Sunday was an amazing day!! What a spiritual feast we had with the organization of the brand new YSA branch in Vermont.  I was surprised at how many young people came to be a part of this historic event. (I think about 30)  I was even more surprised at the outpouring of the spirit.  So many of them wanted to bear their testimonies.  I was SO grateful that the Stake President allowed the meeting to run over the normal time to allow them all to take the time they needed to express their feelings.  The spirit was so strong no one wanted it to end.  It was truly beautiful and a testimony to me that this is the Lord's work.  We are so excited to be a part of this.  These young people are amazing.  I taught a Sunday School lesson after the meeting.  The spirit was still palpable and there were so many insightful comments shared that I learned a great deal from them.  After, we broke the fast together with a wonderful meal.   It was a joyful day and I can still feel like weeping when I write about it.

We are healthy, happy and busy.  We love the beauty of this place and the people that we have met.  What more could we ask for than this!
